Elluminate training available live or recorded for participants and moderators at

Roll Call: introductions by participants

II. Business (old/new)

a. Review of Minutes
Laurie King made a motion to approve minutes. Kim Flack seconded. Unanimous vote in favor of approval of minutes.

b. Secretary position still open
No volunteers or nominations to fill open position. When Elluminate is used, there is a recording of the meeting.

c. Update on AzTEA news
Coy Ison provided an update on AzTEA news: 2 major AzTEA events recently. CIO/CTO Forum – AzTEA co-sponsor excellent one day event; wonderful keynote by Mark Prensky focused on passion-based learning. AzTEA Expo held at ASSET, approximately 120 people for 2 days. Multiple comments on wondeful format of Expo. Website continues to update. Membership Committee is meeting to work on building membership. Elluminate partnership is proceeding, and a plan is being developed for using it.

Think about ideas for encouraging members to rejoin after membership has expires. Voted on sending out a PEAK flyer with reminder to join/rejoin. Vote was 6 for and one abstain. Kim Flack said ASSET can send out an all-call. AzTEA can provide a distribution list and an updated expired list.

d. Reminder to update the district technology leaders on the Google spreadsheet since so many of these positions/people have changed.

List was created during Westside social planning last year. It was based on a spreadsheet from ADE, but it needs updating.

e. Report from Ruben Montoya on wiki and website choices
Peggy and Ruben worked together to update. Westside Leadership Wiki will be our main Westside page. It’s been cleaned up a little bit, and added “Don’t Miss This” for collecting tips and hints for teachers. He will be working on a little more organization for this page as well. Wiki on AzTEA website will link to our Wikispaces wiki. Sandbox on wiki is a place to play if unfamiliar with wikis: just keep it professional.

f. Report on WOW: Ruth Catalano

We do have Raymond Kellis. I meet weds ??? with the Partner's committee to see how the "required presentation" part will play out and will send a written report on that. Brett is redoing the Call for Presenter's part of Grovesite for T & T use (and us later). I don't know if they are going to redo the Planning part of Grovesite for WOW. Once we know those parts we can convene the WOW committee and get started.
Submitted in writing since Ruth was unable to attend. Peggy added that the benefits given “in trade” to Kellis will be weighed with the incentive of providing flash drives to staff.

III. Share & Solve (continuing this popular agenda item to allow members to ask questions, brainstorm/share solutions, and share new technology discoveries)
a. Anyone have something to share today or next time?

V. Special Interest Topics: Sandy Israel
a. Report from Sandy Israel about webcam/document camera
Website with 3 webcams purchased:

Purchased 3 different webcams and the best one was this one: The webcam needs to be elevated. It is a great tool and works well but doesn’t work on a Mac.
Another good webcam:

Peggy George mentioned Laurie King's show about making your own document cameras from recycled things

b. Anyone else have a tech initiative to share today or at another meeting?

VI. Westside Workshops: Ann Lumm, Chair
a) October Workshop – Kim Flack and Digital Nation – date TBD
b) Workshop Topic Brainstorming for 2009-10:
Use Elluminate to capture these workshops to archive them and make them available to people who aren't able to attend? What other issues should we explore related to Westside workshops and professional development opportunities?
c) Workshop Ideas

Ann was not present. Brief discussion about list of training ideas and the need to send a survey to Leadership Team soon to prioritize trainings. Many ideas have been discussed. Elluminate sessions will help expand reach. Place workshops on AzTEA calendar

IV. Wow Factor – PD Moment: Laurie King
What is it and example for use in the classroom?
Dysart's iPAL System
3 applications: iPlan – curriculum planning, iAssess – assessments, iLearn –professional development. Resources available for teachers to aid supporting initiatives. Data displayed is a demo – not real data. System was designed for and by Dysart. Since the program is built on proprietary programs that Dysart owns, it is not able to be open sourced or marketed.

Volunteer for next time? None yet.

Maybe have IDEAL come and talk to us sometime about IDEAL’s database. – Laura to follow up.
Paradise Valley is doing some really nice things – Sandy will follow-up to find a presenter for next time.

VII. Conference Updates (Peak, Tucson, WOW): Ann Lumm

Free to members, unless attending in Flagstaff $25 per person. AzTEA membership will be required to be able to view the archive of the event.

VIII. Next meeting: Monday, November 2 - Face-to-Face
or do we want to continue Elluminate for November and December
Everyone liked being able to use Elluminate for this meeting. The next meeting was decided to be held virtually again via Elluminate.

Motion to adjourn meeting – Priscilla Lundberg
Seconded - Laurie King
Unanimous vote to adjourn meeting
